You will find our Instrumental music to be of the highest quality on YouTube. We have a source of Classical Instrumental Music that is above all else. We also create our own ambient instrumental music for our listening pleasure. You will find that all music called “instrumental” has a very broad meaning. Of course, you would expect it to mean that it’s a song which features only the music from a song without any singing or synth sounds. And this is true all music that features an instrument is an instrumental music, including classical, guitar, orchestral, flute and much more. #InstrumentalMusic
A “guitar pick” or “plectrum” is a small piece of hard material generally held between the thumb and first finger of the picking hand and is used to “pick” the strings. Though most classical players pick with a combination of fingernails and fleshy fingertips, the pick is most often used for electric and steel-string acoustic guitars. Though today they are mainly plastic, variations do exist, such as bone, wood, steel or tortoise shell. Tortoise shell was the most commonly used material in the early days of pick-making, but as tortoises and turtles became endangered, the practice of using their shells for picks or anything else was banned. Tortoise-shell picks made before the ban are often coveted for a supposedly superior tone and ease of use, and their scarcity has made them valuable.

Now we’re going to learn the C major chord, which is a great chord to see if you are coming down on the tips of your fingers or not. Tweaking your fretting hand posture just a little makes a big difference in the sound of the chord.
In an acoustic instrument, the body of the guitar is a major determinant of the overall sound quality. The guitar top, or soundboard, is a finely crafted and engineered element made of tonewoods such as spruce and red cedar. This thin piece of wood, often only 2 or 3 mm thick, is strengthened by differing types of internal bracing. Many luthiers consider the top the dominant factor in determining the sound quality. The majority of the instrument’s sound is heard through the vibration of the guitar top as the energy of the vibrating strings is transferred to it. The body of an acoustic guitar has a sound hole through which sound projects. The sound hole is usually a round hole in the top of the guitar under the strings. Air inside the body vibrates as the guitar top and body is vibrated by the strings, and the response of the air cavity at different frequencies is characterized, like the rest of the guitar body, by a number of resonance modes at which it responds more strongly.
“My son has taken guitar and voice lessons with Steven B for the last year. We are pleased with classes and the improvement we’ve seen in comparison to a previous instructor. Steven B is punctual and extremely respectful of the time and money it takes to provide lessons. He can be counted on to be both friendly and professional. He comes prepared for lessons and expects the same of his students. If you are serious about learning and improving your skills, we highly recommend him.” – Christina, 5 Stars!
Welcome to my Chords page where you will find just about every chord that is commonly used on the guitar… well you will in a couple of years when I get it completely finished 😉 but all the main ones are here now!
Bolt-on necks, though they are historically associated with cheaper instruments, do offer greater flexibility in the guitar’s set-up, and allow easier access for neck joint maintenance and repairs. Another type of neck, only available for solid body electric guitars, is the neck-through-body construction. These are designed so that everything from the machine heads down to the bridge are located on the same piece of wood. The sides (also known as wings) of the guitar are then glued to this central piece. Some luthiers prefer this method of construction as they claim it allows better sustain of each note. Some instruments may not have a neck joint at all, having the neck and sides built as one piece and the body built around it.
I play many instruments, but Guitar is my first instrument. I’ll go through a method book together with you, in which you can learn the basics, including note reading, playing some simple chords…After some months this basic course will open a door for you to enter the world of Guitar playing and you’ll be able to play many songs. Many of my students are interested to sing to Guitar and I help them to sing to Guitar too because I am a voice instructor too. Guitar is an easy and fun instrument to play.
Living Colour’s Vernon Reid agrees but also speaks to a larger shift. He remembers being inspired when he heard Santana on the radio. “There was a culture of guitar playing, and music was central,” adds Reid, 58. “A record would come out and you would hear about that record, and you would make the journey. There was a certain investment in time and resources.”
One the great constants in music right now is that Daniel Bachman will always release a better album than his last. That’s more a comfort than a challenge, as Bachman grows as an experimentalist (heard in a pair of blistering acoustic drones), a traditionalist (his melodies have never been this bold, bright and memorable) and somewhere between (the arresting “A Dog Named Pepper” is haunting in its patience) on his self-titled LP.

The modern word guitar, and its antecedents, has been applied to a wide variety of chordophones since classical times and as such causes confusion. The English word guitar, the German Gitarre, and the French guitare were all adopted from the Spanish guitarra, which comes from the Andalusian Arabic قيثارة (qīthārah) and the Latin cithara, which in turn came from the Ancient Greek κιθάρα (kithara).[A]
Many influences are cited as antecedents to the modern guitar. Although the development of the earliest “guitars” is lost in the history of medieval Spain, two instruments are commonly cited as their most influential predecessors, the European lute and its cousin, the four-string oud; the latter was brought to Iberia by the Moors in the 8th century.

Singer and guitarist Ryan Marshall gave us a call this week to talk about his inspirations, life on the road, and his complicated relationship with country music. How did you get star
“I just wanted to say Thank You and let you know how much I appreciate all the information and help you have given Mikey. You helped him form a great hobby that he loves to do and the family loves to hear. He has come so far since his first lesson and I am happy you kept the Piano lessons interesting for him. Thanks again for being a kind, great teacher to him.” – Cheryl, 5 Stars!
First, you need to determine what type of guitar you have – acoustic nylon, acoustic steel string, or electric. You want to be sure to use the correct strings for your particular guitar. Acoustic guitars that require nylon strings, such as classical, flamenco and some folk guitars, generally have lighter tops, or soundboards, with less internal bracing than those found on steel-string acoustics, and stand the risk of serious damage if fitted with steel strings. Steel-string acoustics are designed to withstand the added stress that steel strings exert on the top, bridge, nut and neck, and won’t sound very good with nylon strings, if they even fit. Electric guitar strings must be made of ferromagnetic metals like steel and nickel, so they can interact with the magnetic pickups, while acoustic-electric guitars typically use a different type of pickup which senses vibrations from the bridge, so acoustic strings may just have a steel core wound with a phosphor bronze alloy wrap for bright tone. Guitars with whammy bars might require a few extra steps to keep everything stable, so check your manufacturer’s instructions or look for online videos.

Others do it by playing hours – but that method isn’t great either. Because strings get worn out over time even if you don’t play them. A guitar sitting untouched for 2 years will surely need a new set of strings once you start playing again.
Thumb picks and finger picks that attach to the finger tips are sometimes employed in finger-picking styles on steel strings. These allow the fingers and thumb to operate independently, whereas a flat pick requires the thumb and one or two fingers to manipulate.
Known mostly for his work in Tortoise and Isotope 217, Jeff Parker struck out on his own in 2016 with the dusty, soul-jazz focused The New Breed and Slight Freedom, surprisingly his first solo guitar effort. The latter is quiet in its resolve, simple in its approach — everything’s recorded live, using a Boomerang Phrase Sampler to layer loops, with light field recordings of street noise simultaneously filling up and receding from the album’s airy space.
“Steven B is a wonderful teacher! He is talented, always enthusiastic, and extremely motivational! Each lesson is designed specifically for our daughter Kelsey’s ability and desired genre of music! Kelsey began guitar and vocal lessons in the Coronado studio and is now taking lessons via Skype since our move to Virginia. The lessons are convenient, affordable, and productive. We are excited to be able to still have Steven B as her guitar and vocal teacher!” – Amy, 5 Stars!

I suggest working you way down the page and making sure that you know ALL the chords and when you find one that you don’t know – click on it and do the lesson. That said I would STRONGLY suggest going all the way through the Beginners Course. (if you have not done so already) because there are many hints on the chords and more importantly, how to use and practice them!
